crop gif
One rectangle,
every frame.
Drop an animated GIF, drag a rectangle over it and download the GIF cut to it. Everything happens in this tab — the file is never uploaded.

GIF. A still GIF is cropped as its one frame.
what is kept
Every frame is cut to the same rectangle and keeps its own delay, and the loop count is kept. A frame where nothing inside the rectangle moves is still its own frame, so the timing is exactly what it was.
The frames are cut by the image engine already inside this page, so nothing extra is downloaded and nothing leaves your device.
Once the GIF is cropped
A GIF cut down to its subject is usually headed somewhere with a size limit. Resizing it keeps the shape you chose and every frame’s timing.

Does the animation still play at the same speed?
Yes. Each frame keeps the delay it had, and the loop count is kept. The finished file is read back from its own bytes and the page says if any frame, delay or the loop came out different.
Why does the cropped GIF sometimes weigh more than the original?
Because a GIF often stores only the part of each frame that changed. To crop, every frame is drawn whole and encoded again with a fresh palette, which can cost more than the original’s tricks saved. The page shows both sizes.
Is my GIF uploaded?
No. It is decoded, cropped and encoded again in this tab by an image engine that is already part of the page. Nothing is sent to a server.
