Link & campaign
Build the link,
then read it back
Add campaign parameters to a link, and watch this page pull the finished link apart again to show you what actually came back. Nothing is sent anywhere — the link is built and read in this tab, and this page never visits the address you type.
Not reported — Google documents this parameter and then says: “isn’t currently reported in Google Analytics properties.” It will travel in your link and arrive intact; there is just nowhere in Analytics that shows it. That is quoted from the page below rather than measured here, and it is the kind of sentence that changes without warning.

Every field description on this page is quoted from one document. Collect campaign data with custom URLs — Google Analytics Help, read 2026-09-25.

Questions
Why does it not warn me that I wrote “Facebook” here and “facebook” before?
Because it cannot see the “before”. Consistency is a property of a set of links, and this page has one link in front of it — the one you are building. Answering that question honestly would mean keeping every link you have ever built here, which is a store, a retention promise and a reason for your links to leave your browser. None of those exist, so the question is left unanswered rather than answered badly.
My link has a # in it. Where do the tags go?
Before the #, which is the only place they work. Anything after a # is never sent to the server, so tags appended there arrive nowhere and the visit is recorded as direct traffic — the campaign simply has no data, and nothing anywhere reports an error. The read-back table is where you can see it landed correctly.
Does my link get sent anywhere?
No. There is no server side to this page. The link is built and read back by your own browser, and nothing here fetches the address to see whether it works — that is a different tool, and it is the one offered at the bottom of this page.
Why is each value shown twice?
Because the two forms are what people confuse, and showing one asks you to trust the other. A space can travel as %20 or as +, and spring%20sale, spring+sale and “spring sale” are the same value while looking like three. The left column is what the link carries; the right is what arrives at the other end.
Can it shorten the link?
No, and not because it would be hard. A short link is a redirect somebody has to keep serving — if it stops resolving, every copy of it that was ever printed, posted or sent stops working. That is a promise about the future, and this page is not in a position to make it.
