developer desk · text & json diff
What changed between two texts — or two JSON documents.
Paste two versions to see the lines and words that changed. In JSON mode the comparison is by meaning: reordered keys are not a change, and numbers are compared exactly. Both texts stay in this tab.
Most JSON diffs either compare text — so a reordered key is a change — or run JSON.parse first, which silently rounds 12345678901234567890 and 12345678901234567891 to the same number. This one does neither.
Once you know what changed
If both sides were JSON, the formatter lays them out the same way without changing a value.
Format JSONQuestions
Does a different key order count as a change in JSON mode?
No. A JSON object has no order, so the same keys with the same values mean the same thing whichever comes first, and the page reports no difference. Arrays do have an order and are compared position by position.
Why is 1.0 against 1 listed but not counted?
Because they are the same number written two ways. The page compares numbers by their exact decimal value, lists what is only spelled differently on its own, and keeps it out of the count of differences.
Are my texts uploaded?
No. Both sides are compared in this tab and nothing is sent or stored.
