The markup
your page publishes

Reads the JSON-LD on the address you give and reports each block against the same requirement table this site’s own generator writes from — so the pair cannot disagree about what is asked for.

This tool works differently from the generator. The generator never uploads your image — it runs in your browser. The checker cannot: it fetches the public address you type, from our server, and reads that page’s HTML, once — and none of the addresses inside the structured data itself, however many it names. Only the address you enter is sent. The addresses you check are then kept in this browser, so it can tell you what changed since last time; they go nowhere, and you can clear them.

Questions

Why does it not tell me whether I will get a rich result?

Because nobody can. Google’s own documentation says meeting the requirements does not guarantee a rich result, and that sentence is quoted under the report rather than summarised. What this can tell you is which properties a named document asks for and which of them your page carries.

It found a type and said nothing about it. Why?

Because no document has been read for that type here. Four types have one — Organization, LocalBusiness, Article and BreadcrumbList — and for anything else the block is listed, named and left alone. Marking it wrong would mean reporting your page as faulty for publishing something we have not researched.

Required according to whom?

Google, always, and the documents are listed under the report with the day each was read. schema.org is consulted for one thing only — whether a type is a type at all — because it publishes a vocabulary rather than a set of requirements: it says what a type may carry, never what it must. A handful of rules are ours rather than a vendor’s, and every one of those says so where it appears.

I use Microdata, not JSON-LD. Why does it say I have none?

Because only JSON-LD is read here, and the report says so rather than leaving you to infer it. Microdata and RDFa are structured data too; a page using either is not covered by this report in any direction, good or bad.

Does it visit the links inside my markup?

No. Structured data is full of addresses — @id, sameAs, logo, image — and none of them is fetched. One request goes out, to the page you typed, however many addresses the markup names.
