redirect checker
There are four ways
to write your address.
http and https, with your domain and with its www. This walks all four and shows every step each server announces — whether they all end at the same page, whether the moves are permanent, and how many round trips somebody pays before anything loads.
This tool works differently from the generator. The generator never uploads your image — it runs in your browser. The checker cannot: it fetches the public address you type, from our server, and reads no page at all — only the status and headers each answer carries. Four addresses are followed rather than the one you type: its http and https forms, with and without www, because comparing where the four land is what the report is made of. No page body is ever fetched. Only the address you enter is sent. The addresses you check are then kept in this browser, so it can tell you what changed since last time; they go nowhere, and you can clear them.
Questions
Why does it check four addresses when I typed one?
Because comparing where the four land is what the report is made of. The address you give is expanded into its http and https forms, with and without www, and each is followed on its own. A site that sends three of them to the right place and drops the fourth looks correct until all four are laid side by side.
Does it download my pages?
No page body at all. Each hop is asked for its status and its headers and the body is cancelled before it arrives, because the chain is the subject here and the content is not.
