Flatten PDF
Every page,
as a picture of itself
Turns each page into an image and builds a new PDF from those images. The document looks the same and behaves completely differently — read what that costs before you use it.

The document is opened, drawn and rebuilt in this tab. It is never uploaded, and nothing about it is stored.
Once every page is a picture
A flattened document is usually one that is about to be sent somewhere. If it needs to go with others, the merger joins them in the same tab.

How big will the flattened file be?
The page will not say before it runs, and that is deliberate. The direction depends on the document: ten pages of text measured 248 times larger once flattened, while a document of full-page photographs came out smaller. The size appears once the file exists, because then it is a fact rather than a guess.
Why does the same page come out larger in Safari?
Because the encoders differ. One page at one quality measured 318 kB in Chromium and 525 kB in WebKit. Neither is wrong — WebKit’s JPEG encoder is simply less aggressive.
